Recently I had a dream
I took a trip in a time machine
Sitting in a director’s chair
soon surrounded by big permed hair

“Shoot the video!”,
Martha Quinn demanded
“Crank the fog machine!”,
I commanded

I saw it all in black & white
Pretty girls with horses
Desert gas stations
Raptors in slowmo flight

Heavy makeup on the boys
Sports cars, yachts, and other toys
Jump cut to working class scene
Factories gray, fields of green

Dancers dancing
Guitars screaming
So artfully done
There must be some meaning

Alas! All dreams  do end
I’m awake and old again
But in that MTV-fueled haze
I remembered youthful days
