Sunshine melts the snow
Sun sets and the cold returns
Dark skies are coldest
Haiku for a snow day
Wet snow falling fast
Superintendent fretting
School buses won’t roll

There was no school today because a wet snow fell right about time for the buses to leave the garage. We didn’t get much snow and it was not bitter cold.
Evergreen Grammys Haiku
Watching the Grammys
It’s a bit of a freak show
Like every year
Valentine of the unromantic literalist disdainful of obsolete technology
Roses are rose
Violets are violet
Yo momma’s so old
she used a Palm Pilot.
Beware the Cardinal
See the cardinal
His red crown is lifted high
Watch out for his beak!

Sunflowers in the Snow
Standing in the snow
Spitting out sunflower husks
Baseball, I miss you!

Haiku for a digital camera
Composition? Ha!
We used to waste all that film
Now we just delete
A haiku for Ash Wednesday
Ashes to ashes
No meat, no snacks, smudged foreheads
And now Lent begins
A haiku for the 2016 New Hampshire Primary
Donald had a win
That pinko Bernie did, too
I’m shaking my head
Toaster Catapult
The Sunbeam heats up
Strong springs send the toast flying
Catch it with your plate
